4 Stars Reviewing: eBay Power Seller Secrets
This second edition published in 2008 aims to educate readers on how to become a PowerSeller which is primarily defined as someone whose sales are more than $1000 a month and has at least a 98 percent favorable rating. Based on interviews with many PowerSellers, this book is not a primer how to start selling on eBay. Written by two self proclaimed PowerSellers the book does not present anything negative about eBay. It is strictly an advice book, written from their perspective, about how great the site is and how you too can become one of the select few, the PowerSellers.

That is the plan as detailed in the introduction which follows the preface that states the same ideas in a different way and an acknowledgment section which thanks numerous people for their invaluable contributions to this 388 page book. The introduction goes into more about what the book is about if you haven’t figured that out by the title as well as the numerous blurb ads all over the cover. They also explain that being PowerSellers qualified the authors to ask questions of other PowerSellers.

Chapter One “Know your Business / Grow your Business” begins the book in the standard format of these type of books by making sure the reader understands the work commitment and job qualities needed to succeed. Not only do you need to have time commitment and personality to make the venture work, you need to know what the criteria is to be a Power Seller as well as the tools and resources on eBay to grow and support your market place. Various options and tools are covered as well as the idea that, at least in the beginning, you need to know the products you are selling. Repeatedly stressed is the idea that along with selling your merchandise, you are selling your reputation from day one so don’t break the law, don’t sell items that present problems, (such as food) and start small because you are in for the long haul.

“Source Products for Success” is the title and the theme of Chapter Two. Beyond getting a sales tax id number, the authors explain various ways of obtaining product inventory to sell. Researching inventory to sell is going to take up a lot of time as is actually acquiring the inventory whether you do it online or through local moving sales, garage sales, etc.

Sales growth is a theme in every chapter and that certainly is the case in Chapter Three “From Mom and Pop to PowerShop.” With recommendations on the hardware and technology you need to support your business and inventory, to accounting software, to web hosting and photography needed, to simple things like digital scales and a phone line, the authors make numerous suggestions and recommendations . Much of this you may already have, but the chapter will also get you to think of new ways to use what you have and determine what you need to get.

Now that you have spent the first one pages getting things going, it is now time to “Automate Your Auctions for Smooth Selling” otherwise known as Chapter Four. A major point of an internet business is for it to make sales while you are sleeping or engaged in doing other things. To do that you need auction management software. The authors explain what such software is, what it does and how to get started using these valuable tools by showcasing a number of vendors and their products.

“Get Your Auctions Going!” is the title of Chapter Five which is all about making sure your customers see you and not a faceless store. Let a little of your personality (within reason” show on your “About Me” page, make your selling rules positive and non scolding, and spend time and money making your listings sell for you. Don’t be too cute, be clean and neat and know the right product for the right category along with the above tips is just part of what this chapter is about.

Chapter Six is about how to “Power-Charge Your eBay Business.” They suggest marketing by way of e-mail, a monthly newsletter, and rewarding returning customers along with numerous other ideas to protect your sales and your growing business. Putting the business to work for you by increasing sales is the theme of this chapter as well as the book and the authors also suggest other avenues of growth beyond your core business.

“Close the Auction and Collect the Cash” is Chapter Seven and they point out the obvious fact that a sale isn’t made until you have money in hand. Various payment options with a main focus on Pay Pal (part of eBay) are covered. Along with tips on how to sell internationally while avoiding scams, spoofs, and phishing. Selling online can result in problems of various types with some customers and this chapter suggests ways to deal with some of those problems.

Chapter Eight “You Sold It, Now Ship It” points out the obvious fact that as a seller, you have to deliver the product. Along with suggestions on how to package and ship items, they suggest various shipping options and how to accomplish this in the most efficient and cheapest manner possible.

“Your Customer Is Always Right (Even When He’s Wrong)” is the theme of Chapter Nine. Anyone who has ever sold anything online or worked in retail (I did for over twenty years) know that some people simply can’t be helped. With an eBay business, e-mails are going to be the primary source of contact and they must be clear, concise and detailed for all parties. Examples of e-mails regarding various situations as well as basic customer service concepts are covered along with how to deal with customer service issues and feedback on eBay.

Chapter 10 is “Keeping Records – or Let’s Have a Look at Those Books, Buddy.” Keeping good records is vitally important and this chapter tells you how to do so and where to get info. This chapter gives a little advice on the subject but like any book, things are subject to change so you will want to contact a tax pro who is up to date on the rules and regulations.

“From eBay Seller to e-Merchant” also known as Chapter Eleven makes a few more suggestions on how to start small and grow your business before briefly comparing Amazon market place to eBay. As expected, the authors think Amazon needs work and ignore other auction sites in the marketplace.

Along with a brief thumbnail sketch of a Power Seller at the end of each chapter that functions more as an ad for the seller/eBay and not a real interview or analysis with depth, and an eight page index, this easy to read and understand book delivers on the intentions stated in the beginning. Filled with tips to grow your business, the read will help those who already are familiar with eBay and have the time to invest in the project though much of the information is rather obvious and there aren’t any real special secrets in the book. Written with an obvious agenda in mind, the book doesn’t offer a contrary point of view as to the merits and realistic issues with eBay nor did it intend to. Instead, like any wealth building guide, it shows you how to make money pushing a product such as vitamins, cosmetics, or in this case, eBay.

4 Stars eBay power seller secrets
The book is very informative but is also outdated as eBay has changed so much since the book was published four years ago. Definitely has the inspiration to get you fired up and go!

3 Stars A good book for a begginer
A well written book that proves quite basic in most aspects for someone with even short eBay experience. Quite a few good hints and tips but found that it contains a lot of basic eBay information that does not, in my opinion, belong in a book about power seller secrets, which basically denotes that you are past basic eBay experience, past seller, and even past power seller as you’ll be learning secrets for power sellers.

I expected to be taught more as a power seller, and a new one at that. It left me a bit short of my expectations.

2 Stars Only for advanced ebay buyers/sellers
Don’t buy this book unless you already have extensive ebay experience.

Hard to understand. Puts me to sleep quickly.

5 Stars Another home run by the Schepps
While I’m biased – Brad and Debra Schepp contribute articles to AuctionBytes – there’s a reason I ask them to write for me. The two have immersed themselves in the eBay selling world and know their stuff. They talk to PowerSellers face-to-face at conferences as well as communicating with them online, and that gives them keen insight into seller concerns and challenges. Brad and Debra are great writers, and the 2nd Edition of eBay PowerSeller Secrets is a worthwhile investment for online sellers.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great Conversation Starters
This and the rest of the series of similar products have been a great way for our clients to pass the time in our waiting room and interact in fun ways. Kids get to find out that their parents know more than what they thought. Kids get to show off what they learned.

5 Stars great
fun to use with the kids…and once in awhile there’s a question they beat me to the answer…okay my pride…maybe more than I’d like to admit too

The Brain Quest series are an excellent way to exchange learning data points

5 Stars Great at home and at school
This is a great resource at home or car trips, and I use it in my classroom activities as well. Great for time filler or “thinking” practice.

4 Stars Smooth sailing
Long car rides can be boring for anyone. Our eleven year-old used to have a very hard time with them. That is, until we discovered Brain Quest. We quiz him and he quizzes us. Along the way, he seems to be learning quite a few things. And the time flies.

Questions and difficulty level are age appropriate. Graphics on the card are repetitive and could be stronger. We also like the Smart Attack line. Better graphics and a bit more challenging. Animals and Original are our two favorites.

Overall, a great product!

4 Stars It’s great to be smart
The dumbing down of American kids is staunchly opposed by the BrainQuest series that stimulates kids in the back seat of the car or the airplane or anywhere they’d be otherwise bored to oblivion. The 1500 questions and answers (kind of like Trivial Pursuit crossed with a deck of cards) are easy to read, cross and wide range of subjects and challenge and stimulate readers of all ages (even grownups will love them.) Best of all, the inherent assumption is that your brain never tires of challenge! Too often on a trip, kids lapse into the “covered wagon syndrome” where they kind of stare blankly off into space, waiting for the trip to end. Brainquest cards (they come in a gazillion levels and varieties for all ages) really keep kids’ brains attached to their bodies. My only criticism is that often the questions are too hard for kids to read and they hold it up for me to read in the rear view mirror (I drive a lot) and if it were in mirror writing, I could read it. Oh well. Small criticism I suppose. It’s a great series. Keep a couple stashed under the car seat or in the glove compartment. The only thing even remotely as good as Brainquest is GeoSafari (which costs ten times as much and is the size of a laptop computer). Take time to try some of the Brainquest cards at home, then enjoy them in the car or on the plane. They also make great presents for teachers.

Understanding Space An Introduction to Astronautics Website Space Technology

Understanding Space An Introduction to Astronautics Website Space Technology

51a Zyo4D9L. SL75 Understanding Space An Introduction to Astronautics Website Space Technology

Understanding Space provides an excellent in-depth explanation of astronautic principles making it a must-have for undergrad aerospace students.

This is an introductory text in astronautics designed for managers and young engineers new to the space field. The study of astronautics and space missions can appear difficult at times, but our goal is to bring space down to Earth and de-mystify it, so each reader understands the big picture with confidence. It contains historical background and a discussion of space missions, space environment, orbits, atmospheric entry, spacecraft design, spacecraft subsystems, and space operations. This is a truly user-friendly, full-color text focused on understanding concepts and practical applications but written in a down-to-earth, engaging manner that painlessly helps you understand complex topics. It is laid out with multi-color highlights for key terms and ideas, reinforced with detailed example problems, and supported by detailed section reviews summarizing key concepts, terms, and equations.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars A must-have for new professionals and students in the field
I own an earlier edition of this book, which I bought after a friend and Air Force Academy graduate let me borrow his. Unless you are already a guru in all things space-related, there is probably something useful in this book.

It is a primer for the basics of orbit and attitude dynamics, mission designs, subsystems, launch and reentries, operations, as well as other topics. The math is all kept at the algebra level, which keeps it from discouraging readers who want to get concepts without getting tangled up in dense math.

Unlike many texts, this one is very well-illustrated, and written in a manner that actually makes it fun to read, including sidebars with descriptions of historical and current real world missions, as well as descriptions and diagrams of various current and future technology subsystems, including propulsion schemes. Few textbooks have ever held my interest as well as this one, and inspired me to seek out more detailed texts for some of the subjects.

Many times have I had to teach young new people the ropes, or to explain to outsiders asking me questions about something they aren’t familiar with, and this book has always made it easier to explain things, especially with its ample illustrations.

If you are a professional in the field and have a stack of textbooks on the shelf by your desk, I recommend adding this one.

3 Stars Arcjet graphics missing.
I bought this book sometime ago based upon the high ratings on amazon and my personal desire to assimilate the knowledge.

I have therefore only leisurely read one of the chapters that interested me and although the content is top notch, I am quite annoyed at the placement of an incorrect graphic cutaway on page 576, The cutaway in question is supposed to show how an Arcjet engine operates, but the cutaway is that of a thermal nuclear engine that was discussed, and portrayed, some pages earlier.

So in closing, this text may need extensive editting.

5 Stars Very well written book on the subject
This book is really easy to read. The author has done a great job at presenting the history, the risks and the technologies that have allowed us to have missions in space. It provides a good understanding of issues that have to be resolved for a mission in space, such as near-zero gravity issues (problems such as outgassing), radiation (single event phenomena), heat transfer, etc. It also provides benefits of space missions, discusses different types of orbits, etc. Overall, this is a great book to give you a good understanding of space, space vehicles (i.e. satellites) and the issues encountered and the way we have or currently are addressing them as well as challenges for the future.

5 Stars A must read
this a great book….written in a very easy to understand for the non specialist..it’s worth the money you’ll pay.

4 Stars Very interesting
I found this book to be very enjoyable. A great review of Calculus and linear Algebra, are available in the appendix. This book has easily understood orbital concepts and is easy to follow. Anyone with and interest in Space technology should enjoy this book.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Kids love these!
I have never heard of Brain Quest, but decided to buy as stocking stuffers, thanks to Amazon’s suggestion and other user reviews. They are a real hit with the kids, who have a blast asking each other knowledge questions to test their skills!

5 Stars Smart fun…
Our boys love all the Brain Quest products. Parents will appreciate the design of this product – All question cards are attached at the bottom, so it is very easy to collect the cards and return them to the box. Anyone who has searched throughout a house or car for missing game pieces will understand the value of this “neat” game.

5 Stars Great for kids
My kids read this in car and during weekends, and learn so much. I have a collection of Brain Quest.

5 Stars Highly recommend…
I bought these for our oldest son who was starting 4th grade. He can’t get enough of them. The cards are also great for the car. We recently took a 4 hr. trip and the kids loved being quizzed. My husband and I also participate, because there are a few things you forget over the years! They really are a wonderful way for kids to learn in a fun way. I previously bought the 2nd grade ones and now also bought the kindergarten cards for our 2nd son. I will definately be buying each set through the years!

5 Stars Brain Quest – kids love it!
My kids love Brain Quest and we have used it for each of them from K through 4 so far. There are 1500 questions and answers. The questions are age appropriate and are challenging but are no so difficult as to discourage children. My son will pick up “the deck” (this book is really a stack of cardboard quiz card bound at one corner) and quiz himself for fun. What he didn’t know before he might now. I highly recommend this educational tool.

Lets Get Real or Lets Not Play Transforming the Buyer Seller Relationship

Lets Get Real or Lets Not Play Transforming the Buyer Seller Relationship

21vWNjYhjjL. SL75 Lets Get Real or Lets Not Play Transforming the Buyer Seller Relationship

The new way to transform a sales culture with clarity, authenticity, and emotional intelligence.

Too often, the sales process is all about fear.

Customers are afraid that they will be talked into making a mistake; salespeople dread being unable to close the deal and make their quotas. No one is happy.

Mahan Khalsa and Randy Illig offer a better way. Salespeople, they argue, do best when they focus 100 percent on helping clients succeed. When customers are successful, both buyer and seller win. When they aren
